Foundations Groups
Foundations Groups are groups of farmers who meet together regularly to pray for each other, study God’s word, and apply it to their lives. These groups usually start with a demonstrated interest in Foundations for Farming, either through participation in a field day or by trialling our unique approach on a small piece of land. From that seed of interest, we encourage farmers to organise into Foundations Groups, comprising people from varying church backgrounds (including none). Three or four members from each group initially come to us for an intensive training in Foundations for Farming. When they return to their groups they facilitate discussions on theory and practice, using curriculum we provide. At the end of each meeting, the group makes a plan for working together in their fields, which often includes a demo plot maintained by the group. Each group that demonstrates faithfulness during the growing season is invited to send other members for additional trainings in Farming, Finance and Family. Eventually we hope to host each member at our Centre of Excellence for an intensive training. Foundations Groups are a powerful channel for long-term relationships with farmers in local villages.
Foundations Groups are also sometimes comprised of employees of nearby commercial farms, as well as schools and youth groups.
